Teacher Knowledge (TPACK) in the age of Generative AI

This this presentation Dr. Mishra will focus on the impact of Generative AI (GenAI) technologies like ChatGPT on education, particularly through the lens of the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework. He will be discussing how GenAI’s unique properties – being protean, opaque, unstable, generative, and social – necessitate a reimagining of TPACK.

There will be a highlight on the need for educators to view GenAI not just as a tool, but as a collaborative “psychological other” that actively shapes interactions, emphasizing the importance of expanding Contextual Knowledge to consider the broader societal implications of AI. The presentation will also explore multiple proactive approaches in integrating GenAI into education, aiming to harness its benefits while mitigating potential adverse consequences.
