AI x Google Scripts – Now Everyone Can Make Web Apps!

Have you ever thought of building your own app for your classroom or to solve a specific problem? Google Apps Scripts allows any user build scripts and web apps within the Google Workspace eco-system. With AI to help us with the heavy lifting (coding), building a web app is now quick and easy. In this session: After a brief overview of the GAS framework and AI-powered coding workflow, participants will work individually or in groups to hack away and design a web app! Try your hand at developing an app with AI. Some familiarity with HTML and JavaScript can be helpful – or have some fun jumping in the deep-end! Let’s see what we can make within the hour! (You will need access to Poe, ChatGPT or some similar AI tool)

Mr. Andrew Chiu has over a decade of experience in coaching and leading educational technology integration and innovation within teaching and learning. He holds a Masters in Education (Designing Powerful Learning Environments) and a PGDE from the University of Hong Kong. Teaching since 2003, he has taught Computer Science, Digital Design, Drama and English. Mr. Chiu previously worked as a youth worker and studied Cognitive Science and Business Economics at the University of Queensland, Australia. He is currently the Head of Technology and Innovation (Secondary) and an MYP Robotics Design Teacher at Victoria Shanghai Academy in Hong Kong.

His enthusiasm for experimenting with new technologies drives him to integrate them into the classroom environment. His recent exploration into the realm of advanced AI models, such as Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, and GPT4, have further expanded his ability to engage and inspire students.
