AI and the Law: What Do Educators Need to Know?

This session, led by an educator and attorney, will explore the legal implications and complexities related to AI in schools. We will discuss privacy concerns, data protection, ethical considerations, and compliance with COPPA, FERPA, GDPR, and relevant laws. We will discuss how to provide guidance on navigating these challenges. We will closely look at AI tools for educational use and understand how to evaluate them, the benefits for student learning, and attendees will walk away with a greater understanding of how to bring AI safely, ethically, and responsibly into all classrooms.
