Dr. Kulangara Jacob Johnson (Dr. JJ) is a global thought leader in innovation, technology, and future-focused education, with over 40 years of experience across international education and the technology industry. He is currently the Director of the Center for Design & Innovation for Public Purpose at the American School of Dubai. Dr. JJ began his career at Infosys Technologies as the company’s first Operations Manager, helping shape one of the world’s most influential technology organizations.
A self-described “lead learner,” Dr. JJ is a passionate advocate for reimagining learning in an age of agility and rapid technological change. An empathetic and visionary leader, he has spoken at numerous international conferences on digital transformation, AI in education, and visionary leadership for an uncertain future.
Often known as a modern “renaissance man,” his work bridges technology and creativity—he is also an passionate musician, recording engineer, and photographer. Guided by his mantra to “Embrace, Educate, Engage, Empower – Ethically” learners, Dr. JJ focuses on unlocking the “Promise, Potential, and Power” of technology and AI to prepare future-ready changemakers.
He published his first book on AI, Agile AI 101: Living AI, Learning AI, & Loving AI, followed by an accessible, magazine-style series titled AI Playbook for Schools. His latest book is Future-Focused Education 5.0: Reimagined & Transformed with AI.
