Co-Design or Copy-Paste? A Model Lesson on Integrating an ‘AI Co-Designer’ into Creative Projects
How do we move students away from using AI as a “copy-paste” generator toward using it as a thoughtful creative partner?
This hands-on model lesson introduces the concept of the “AI Co-Designer”, a practical framework that positions generative AI as an interactive thought partner across every stage of the design cycle.
Using a secondary graphic design module as a practical case study, participants will step into the student role to experience the framework firsthand. Attendees will engage in rapid, hands-on activities to:
- Construct target user personas
- Critique initial layout concepts
- Simulate authentic stakeholder feedback
While demonstrated through visual communications, this adaptable workflow applies seamlessly to product design, media, and STEAM projects across any secondary curriculum.
