Teaching in Stereo: How classroom audio and ChatGPT can turn dialogue into actionable insights for professional development and growth
This session explores how AI can be used to meaningfully evaluate and enhance classroom practice. Drawing on Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction and Sherrington’s Teaching Walkthrus, it demonstrates how recorded classroom audio can be transformed into actionable insights using ChatGPT. Participants will see how high-quality recordings and transcripts provide a foundation for analysing teacher questioning, student interactions, and instructional strategies over time.
The workshop highlights practical methods for capturing classroom dialogue, integrating AI into structured walkthroughs, and using rubrics to track growth across lessons. Real-world examples show how ChatGPT can generate bespoke feedback for teachers, support student self-assessment, and scale impact across hundreds of learners. By combining proven pedagogical models with cutting-edge AI, this approach helps teachers move from surface-level reflection to deep, data-informed improvement — while keeping the human element of teaching at the centre.
