Using AI to Support Early Years

In early years education, play-based learning and emergent literacy are key to fostering a strong foundation for future learning. With the rise of AI, educators now have powerful tools to enhance engagement, differentiation, and creativity in the classroom. This session will explore practical ways AI can support early years teaching and learning while maintaining developmentally appropriate practice.
Participants will be introduced to three AI-powered tools that can transform early childhood education:

  • TwinPics – a tool that generates image pairs to support vocabulary development, helping young learners build language skills through playful exploration.
  • ProjectRead.ai – an innovative platform that assists educators in creating decodable games, reinforcing phonics and early reading skills in an interactive way.
  • Ideogram – an AI-driven image generator that can create unique, context-rich pictures to enhance classroom provocations and inspire imaginative play.

Through real-world examples and hands-on demonstrations, this session will highlight how AI can be leveraged to enrich early years learning while keeping play at the heart of the classroom. Attendees will leave with practical strategies and resources they can immediately apply in their own settings.
